Born from a love of Japan
My calm table started on a trip to Tokyo, wandering Kappabashi Street — the city's famous kitchenware district. We spent hours there, completely absorbed by the ceramics and tableware: the craftsmanship, the imperfection, the wabi-sabi feel of it all.
We ended up buying more than we probably should have — and even then, luggage limits meant we had to leave plenty behind.
We came home wanting more of it in our everyday life.
Bringing it to Australia
Back home, we realised that kind of thoughtfully made Japanese tableware was hard to come by. So we started sourcing it ourselves.
My calm table is the result — Japanese-inspired ceramics and tableware, curated for Australian homes. The things you eat and drink from every day should feel good to use, not just look nice on a shelf.
